I use found objects to create textures around the edges which adds contrast to the contours of the vegetables.

I use green, purple and turquoise in my painting and try to keep the natural warm terra cotta color as the raw background for the vegetables.

Grapes

The leaves and grapes have a natural flow set against the warm terra cotta color of the background. The border is another grape motif that I have pressed in, and the edges are deckled to give the impression that this piece fell off of an ancient wall.

This is probably my most popular vegetable painting. The design is strong and the texture around the edges particularly draw the viewer in.
